UncagedLeft Bank Books presents co-authors John Sandford and Michele Cook, who will sign and discuss the first novel in their Singular Menace series, Uncaged (Alfred A. Knopf Books for Young Readers, July 2014), on Monday, July 14, 7pm, at the St. Louis County Library Headquarters (1640 S. Lindbergh). Sandford will also sign and discuss the 24th novel in his Prey series, Field of Prey (Putnam Adult, May 2014).

#1 New York Times bestselling Prey author John Sandford and Michele Cook debut a high-octane young adult thriller series. In Uncaged, Shay Remby arrives in Hollywood with $58 and a handmade knife, searching for her brother Odin. He and a group of radical animal-rights activists hit a Singular Corp research lab in Eugene, Oregon, and escaped with a set of highly encrypted flash drives and a post-surgical dog. When Shay gets a menacing visit from Singular’s security team, she knows her brother’s a dead man walking. What Singular doesn’t know – yet – is that 16-year-old Shay is every bit as ruthless as their security force, and she will burn Singular to the ground to save her brother.

A starred review from Booklist calls Uncaged “a fabulous mix of outlandish hijinks, techno-noir, and teen cheek – L.A. style. Not to be missed.” Publishers Weekly claims, “[Sandford and Cook] keep tension high, packing the narrative full of twists.” Stephen King said, “If you haven’t read Sandford yet, you have been missing one of the great summer-read novelists of all time.”

John Sandford is the pseudonym of John Roswell Camp, an American author and journalist. Camp won the Pulitzer Prize in journalism in 1986. As John Sandford, he is the author of thirty-six published novels, all of which have appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Michele Cook is a journalist and crime reporter making her fiction debut with this series.
