Ridley PearsonSaint Louis’ own and local favorite, Ridley Pearson visited Saint Louis County Headquarters on Saturday, April 6 to share with all his fans the release of Kingdom Keepers VI:  Dark Passage.  Audience members, both young and old, sat in anticipation, many receiving personal greetings and handshakes from the author himself prior to the start of his event.  The younger crowd was particularly excited to hear Pearson speak, with shrieks of delight and animated chatter about what is to come of their favorite characters.

The Kingdom Keepers is an action, adventure series created by Ridley Pearson in partnership with Disney.  Pearson receives special access to the different parks, allowing his characters and readers to see behind the scenes of Disney in the dark.  His characters in the series are five young teens, selected to serve as models for a new project featuring holographic guides.  Unbeknownst to the young teens, when they go to sleep at night, they wake up in the park as their holographic image and the “Imagineers” engineered them this way in order to fight the evil brewing at night from the most well-known villains of our childhood:  Malificent, Cruella de Vil, and Chernabog, amongst others.

Pearson shared his journey, chronicling through pictures both his path and the Kingdom Keepers through the previous five books.  He then shared a little teaser about what to expect in what his fans originally thought would be the sixth and final book.  However, Pearson threw out a little surprise:  Book VI would not be the last!  Book VII will be the final one in this series and his fans will have the opportunity to contribute to the ending of the Kingdom Keepers’ journey!

Pearson has created the Kingdom Keepers Insider, a website and free app that allows fans to get exclusive content to the series, follow the writing of Book VII, submit their own fan fiction, and even help to write portions of the final installment!  Each week, Pearson will post his personal outlines, asking for fan feedback and fan fiction, allowing both author and readers to read and write the story together both online and to be published in paper April 2014.

In addition, Pearson announced that The Kingdom Keepers will not really be coming to an end next year.  He recently signed to write a second set of Kingdom Keepers books; a three-book series, to be exact!

If you have not yet had the opportunity to check out this series, be sure to check out my reviews of the first five books in the series.  The series is a fun read that I recommend both children and adults add to their personal library.  I cannot wait to dive into Book VI, but am keeping my fingers crossed that I am not left hanging like I was at the end of Book V!
