Coming up in September!

Summer may be coming to a close, but the literary events in Saint Louis haven’t slowed down a bit.  They just keep coming!  In fact, there doesn’t seem to be a day in September without something literary happening.  Our staff at Walrus is going to several of the events, so we can share them with you.

We start with our on-going report on “Emerging Writers’ Night” out at Subterranean Books.  The first Wednesday of every month writers from across the area gather to read from their current works at Subterranean Books on Delmar.  It’s always exciting to see and hear these budding authors as they share their passion for writing.

After that, we’ve made plans to spend an evening with Charlaine Harris and Laurell Hamilton as they discuss and sign their books at Christ Church Cathedral on September 14th to benefit the St. Louis Public Library.  It’s always great to see and hear these acclaimed authors.  It’s even better that the proceeds for the event will help the Library.  That’s a win-win in anybody’s book.

From there, we are going to the St. Louis Jewish Book Festival to see Nicole Krauss as she talks about her new book Great House at the Jewish Community Center on Millstone Campus Drive, September 21st.

Finally, we’re heading out to the Feast Book Club event featuring authors Carl and Nancy McConnell.  They are not only going to talking about their new cookbook Stone Soup Cottage, they’ll be sharing dishes made from its recipes.  Sounds like a tasty night and we going to be there to tell you all about it.  This will be our first time at Moulin Events and Meetings over on Euclid.  Hope you can join us there on September 26th.

Keep checking our event calendar to see what’s happening literary in Saint Louis!
