Left Bank Books presents author Amy Spalding, who will sign and discuss her young adult novel, Kissing Ted Callahan (and Other Guys) (Poppy Books, April 2015), on Saturday, April 25, 4pm, at Left Bank Books (399 N. Euclid).

Kissing Ted Callahan is Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist meets Easy A, a hilariously realistic story of sneaking out, making out, and playing in a band. After catching their bandmates in a compromising position, sixteen-year-old Los Angelenos Riley and Reid become painfully aware of the romance missing from their own lives. And so a pact is formed: they’ll both try to make something happen with their respective crushes and document the experiences in a shared notebook. But with their love lives going from 0 to 60 in the blink of an eye, Riley and Reid realize the results of their pact may be more than they bargained for.

Kirkus Reviews calls Kissing Ted Callahan “[a] not-so-fluffy chick-lit offering rife with angst, rock’n’roll and lots of kissing.” Publishers Weekly claims, “It’s refreshing to see a boy-girl friendship built on mutual support that doesn’t drift into romance…Riley’s voice is irreverent and funny,” and Stephanie Perkins, author of Anna and the French Kiss, says, “I laughed so hard that I cried. Twice.”

Amy Spalding grew up in St. Louis, but now lives in the better weather of Los Angeles. She received a B.A. in Advertising & Marketing Communications from Webster University, and currently works as the Digital Media Planner for an independent film advertising agency. Amy studied longform improv at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, and can be seen performing at indie theaters around L.A.

Amy Spalding will discuss Kissing Ted Callahan (and Other Guys), answer questions, and sign books. This event is free and open to the public. Books for signing are available from Left Bank Books in advance or at the event. For more information, call 314.367.6731 or visit left-bank.com.
