Author and University of Missouri professor Trudy Lewis brings us the unforgettable protagonist Sally LaChance, who works as a park ranger by day and a roller derby emcee by night in a midsized Missouri town. The novel, “The Empire Rolls,” captures the changing cultural landscape of the Midwest on the brink of the 2008 recession.

Along with a reading from “The Empire Rolls,” Arch Rival Roller Girls members Girl Fawkes, Cruella Belle-Ville, Danisaurus Rex, and Party Foul will be on hand to show video clips of their competitions and talk about the culture of roller derby. Buttons, stickers, and light refreshments will be provided.
