Calling all bookworms and bibliophiles! World Book Night 2014 is almost here! World Book Night is an annual celebration dedicated to spreading the joy of reading, person to person. Each year on April 23, tens of thousands of people go out into their communities and distribute half a million free World Book Night paperbacks to get books into the hands of light or non-regular readers.

This year the Book House will serve as one of many St. Louis area book distribution centers, our new centralized Maplewood location makes the ideal location to help spread the local love for literacy. We will be distributing boxes to people who have signed up to be WBN givers at our WBN reception and celebration on Fri, April 18 from 7 to 10pm Everyone is welcome!

World Book Night is about giving books and encouraging reading in those who don’t regularly do so. But it is also about more than that: It’s about people, communities and connections, about reaching out to others and touching lives in the simplest of ways—through the sharing of stories.
